About

MRs. Brown

Picture

  • I have degrees in Elementary and Special Education with endorsements in Social Studies, Science, and Reading.
  • I earned my Bachelor's Degree at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. (Graduated in 2007 and finished additional course work in 2010.)
  • I earned my Master's Degree in Reading through McKendree University. (Graduated in 2014.)
  • This is my fifteenth year teaching.

  • I enjoy teaching all subjects, but my favorite is reading.  When you read, you can be anyone, travel any place, and be in any time period.  Reading truly opens a world of opportunities.
  • When I am not at school, I love reading books, playing music, spending time with my husband, daughter, extended family, and friends, working at my church, and relaxing with my dogs, Laney and Rosco.

  • While it is a weighty responsibility, I teach because I want to inspire and push others to achieve through learning.  I believe teaching is a calling or gifting, not just a job.  Teachers play a key part in guiding the next generation in this world.  While academic subject matter is often the main focus, teachers also help mold students’ behavior, emotional well-being, and their understanding of right and wrong.  Teaching allows me to leave a legacy that helps children face whatever future challenges may be thrown at them.
